Chair´s Profile

It is my mission to open up opportunities for young people to acquire intercultural skills at various levels. As Head of the Business High School Northeim and a member of the school’s executive board of the Europaschule BBS 1 Northeim, I played a key role in creating the college's international profile for many years. The school was awarded the title of European School by the federal state of Lower Saxony. As an outstanding honors, the college was also named by the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs a “School with an International Orientation”, so that Chinese students can also be educated at the school.

Since 2008, I have been instrumental in setting up the co-operation with the Ministry of Education of Anhui Province and five partner schools in China. I have organized and carried out numerous study trips to China with pupils and teachers and looked after delegations from Chinese colleges and universities. In 2012, on my initiative, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs authorized the Business High School Northeim to teach Chinese as an examination subject for the Abitur (University entrance qualification).

The Europaschule BBS 1 (Berufsbildende Schulen I Northeim) was the second grammar school in Lower Saxony to receive this authorization. Thanks to the excellent Chinese lessons, students acquire the HSK I, II and III certificates. Since 2010, many foreign language assistants from China have also worked at the Business High School Northeim. Students from China who are studying at the Faculty of Intercultural Communication at Goettingen University can do their internship at BBS 1, for which I was responsible on the part of the school management. As I have retired in 2024, it would be a great honour and pleasure for me to continue to promote to education and science in China and Germany and share the wealth of knowledge to enrich the society and academic experience and contribute to the mutual understanding of cultures.
